Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, and maintain health content on Nutsutra.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Health misinformation is dangerous. Nutsutra is committed to publishing content that is accurate, balanced, and evidence-based. Every article on this site follows a structured research and review process before publication.

Research Standards

When writing or commissioning health content, our writers and reviewers follow these research standards:

  • Primary sources preferred: We cite original research papers from peer-reviewed journals indexed in PubMed, Cochrane, and Semantic Scholar wherever possible.
  • Study quality matters: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews carry more weight than observational studies or anecdotes. We indicate study quality in our content.
  • Recency: We prefer studies published within the last 10 years, especially for rapidly evolving areas like supplement science.
  • Corroboration: A single study is rarely sufficient basis for a strong health claim. We look for convergent evidence from multiple independent studies.
  • Conflict of interest awareness: We are cautious of industry-funded studies and note them where relevant.

Editorial Review Process

Before publication, every Nutsutra article goes through a structured editorial checklist that covers:

  • Accuracy of health claims against cited sources
  • Appropriateness for Indian readers — vegetarian options, Indian brands, FSSAI regulatory context
  • Safety considerations and contraindications flagged clearly
  • Alignment with YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) content standards
  • Medical disclaimer present and appropriately worded

YMYL Content Standards

Health and nutrition content falls under Google's YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) category — content that, if inaccurate, could directly harm readers. Nutsutra applies the following YMYL-specific standards:

  • All articles include a medical disclaimer at the top and bottom
  • Readers are consistently encouraged to consult a healthcare professional before acting on information
  • We do not make definitive diagnostic claims ("you have X condition")
  • Serious medical conditions are addressed with appropriate caution and referral to qualified professionals
  • Emergency medical situations are always directed to call a doctor or emergency services

Corrections Policy

If we publish information that is later found to be inaccurate, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date of correction. We do not silently delete or rewrite articles to remove errors — we acknowledge and correct them transparently.

To report an error or suggest a correction, please contact us.

Content Updates

Health science evolves. We review our published content periodically and update articles when:

  • New significant research contradicts or significantly qualifies previous claims
  • Regulatory guidance changes (e.g., FSSAI updates supplement limits)
  • Products mentioned are discontinued or significantly changed
  • Reader feedback reveals important missing information

Updated articles display the "Last updated" date alongside the original publication date.

Independence from Commercial Interests

Nutsutra maintains editorial independence from its commercial relationships. Brands, supplement companies, and affiliate partners have no influence over our editorial content. No payment, product gifting, or partnership entitles any brand to editorial coverage or positive reviews. Our rankings and recommendations are solely based on research quality and genuine merit.
